Multivisceral transplantation in two European centers: indications and outcome
Background: Multivisceral transplantation (MVTx, liver/stomach/pancreas/intestine) and modified MVTx (mMVTx, stomach/pancreas/intestine) are life-saving procedures mostly/classically for patients with diffuse splanchnic thrombosis, but increasingly for other complex diffuse abdominal diseases. The procedure is considered high-risk, only few European centers have started MVTx programs (most series originate from the US). We aim to report the initial experience (indication/management/outcome) at 2 European centers (sharing similar protocols).
