Intestinal preservation using luminal perfusion preservation and aeration: a small animal study
Background: Solid organ preservation has recently witnessed the development of hypothermic and normothermic machine perfusion and oxygenation systems. These approaches have shown improved results in liver transplantation however few studies have been made on intestinal tissue. We have compared the standard practice of intestinal static cold storage (SCS) with the combined approach of IGL-1 and luminal PEG solution as well as luminal solution with the addition of air insufflation into a closed preservation solution system.
