Multiple ultrasound-based biomarkers for detection of Intestinal Failure-Associated Liver Disease in a pediatric cohort
Background: Shear Wave Elasticity (SWE), Shear Wave Dispersion (SWD), and Attenuation Imaging (ATI) are promising quantitative ultrasound-based markers to assess fibrosis, inflammation/ and steatosis respectively, but their utility in Intestinal Failure Associated Liver Disease (IFALD) remains unclear. The aim of the study was to report how SWE, SWD and ATI appear, in relation to conventional ultrasound and laboratory tests, in children with intestinal failure.
