Reasons for non-listing for visceral transplantation at the Scandinavian reference center
Results:The study found that the number of years with HPN was the only significant predictor of independence, with both Chi-square (p=0.007) and logistic regression (p=0.002)showing statistical significance.Higher education level, better health literacy and younger age showed numeric trends, but failed to reach statistical significance. Conclusions: The complexity of benign intestinal failure and the associated HPN procedure require education programs tailored to the patient. From this study only the number of years with HPN proved to be a significant predictor of the patient's degree of independence.Further research with larger sample size is needed to confirm these findings and better understand the relationship between patient characteristics and HPN independence.
