A new spectrum of gut rehabilitation surgery: Novel technique to prevent midgut loss in patients with Gut malrotation
Background: Midgut loss is a catastrophic event often leading to intestinal failure and, ultimately, the need for intestinal transplantation. Patients with gut malrotation are at increased risk for midgut volvulus due to the lack of mesenteric attachment. Additionally, individuals with malrotation may experience a range of disabling gastrointestinal symptoms, collectively described as Gut Malrotation Syndrome (GMS). This study is describing the novel procedure and it’s long-term outcomes.
