INNOVATIVE MODELS OF INTESTINAL FAILURE (IF), INTESTINAL TRANSPLANTATION (IT) AND MULTIVISCERAL TRANSPLANTATION (MT) IN THE RAT
normal clinical status and anal sphincter function by manometry similar to the normal control but without perianal skin sensitivity under puncture with a blunt needle.Autotx sacrificed between 120-180 POD (n=2) presented an incipient perianal skin sensitivity.Autotx animals sacrificed between 240-360 POD (n=2) showed normal clinical-functional status, perianal skin sensitivity similar to the normal control and colonoscopy showed preserved rectum, with contraction and mass movements during the exam. Conclusions: ART in pigs using microsurgical technique is feasible.Long-term evaluation showed good functional recovery of the anal sphincter after 30 POD and recovery of the perianal skin sensitivity after 240 POD.These finds prospect the application of ART for patients with severe anorectal incontinence and permanent colostomy.
