Factors associated with the quality of life of caregivers of pediatric patients with congenital heart disease
ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the socioeconomic impact, the health of pediatric patients, and religiosity on the quality of life of caregivers of children and adolescents with congenital heart disease at the pediatric outpatient clinic. Method: A cross-sectional, descriptive study with 99 caregivers from a pediatric outpatient clinic at a university hospital in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil. We used a Socioeconomic Questionnaire, Duke Religiosity Index, Brief Religious-Spiritual Coping Scale and World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref for data collection. The simultaneous influence of the variables was assessed using multiple linear regression. Results: Factors such as negative religious-spiritual coping, self-reported color, and not having a job had a negative impact on the quality of life dimensions, while the child’s age and intrinsic religiosity had a positive impact. Conclusion: Religiosity and spirituality influence the quality of life of caregivers, indicating the importance of considering these factors in interventions.
