Simplified Model Predictive Current Control for PMSM Drives with Harmonic Current Signal Separation
In real-world industrial scenarios, power switching devices are required to operate at low switching frequencies to mitigate power losses associated with switching actions. Nevertheless, low switching frequencies tend to cause a substantial rise in the total harmonic distortion (THD) of motor currents. To tackle the challenge of elevated current harmonics due to decreased switching frequencies, this paper introduces a streamlined model predictive current control (MPCC) approach for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. This approach is based on harmonic current signal separation (HCSS) while adhering to switching frequency constraints(SFC). Initially, a simply structured harmonic current separation unit is designed. Then, the expression for the predicted harmonic current component is derived through basic calculations. Ultimately, this component is integrated into the cost function to balance the impact of current harmonics on the system.
