Model Predictive Control for OW-PMSM Based on a Novel Distribution of Reference Voltage Vector

Model predictive control (MPC), due to its good dynamic performance as well as its own rolling optimized steady state advantages, has been widely studied by researchers in various fields related to motor drives. In a common DC bus open-winding permanent magnet synchronous motor (OWPMSM) system, in order to improve the steady-state control performance of the system, the suppression of the zero-sequence current needs to be considered, in addition to the fact that the voltage vector acting on the inverter tracks the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{\alpha} \boldsymbol{\beta}$</tex> component of the reference voltage vector. Since the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{\alpha}, \boldsymbol{\beta}$</tex> and zero-sequence components of each voltage vector are different, it is reasonable and effective to suppress the zero-sequence current (ZSC) of the system through the inverter-actuated voltage vector <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$U_{7}$</tex> in many control methods, but this will lead to an increase in the commonmode voltage (CMV), which will cause a series of adverse effects on the motor control, such as causing the bearing currents, which will cause damage to the motor bearings, as well as leading to the motor temperature rise which will make the control efficiency etc. Therefore, this paper proposes a control algorithm, distributing the reference voltage to the dual inverters in different proportions in a certain area without acting the voltage vector <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$U_{7}$</tex> in the inverter to suppress the zerosequence current and reduce the common mode voltage. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, Matlab/Simulink simulation results are presented for comparison with the traditional control scheme. The proposed scheme successfully achieves the objectives of effectively reducing the CMV and suppressing the ZSC while maintaining system control performance.
