Effect of Nanosheet Aluminum Nitride on Tape Casting and Pressureless Sintering

Aluminum nitride (AlN) ceramics are attracting attention with their high insulation and high thermal conductivity in high-power electron devices, while there are quite a few papers that have studied the influence of powder morphology on the properties of AlN ceramics, just most of these studies focused on spherical powders rather than AlN nanosheets. In addition, the role of AlN nanosheets in ceramic tape casting and sintering has not been reported. In this paper, AlN ceramics with excellent dielectric properties are prepared by using AlN nanosheets (400 nm × 30 nm), while maintaining the high thermal conductivity (165.36 W/m K@50 °C). Here, the highly specific surface area existed in nanosheets and preferred to form a suitable contact with the additive Y2O3 in the tape casting process. This work provides an idea for the design of ceramics with high thermal conductivity and excellent dielectric properties.

Here, the highly specific surface area existed in nanosheets and preferred to form a suitable contact with the additive Y2O3 in the tape casting process. This work provides an idea for the design of ceramics with high thermal conductivity and excellent dielectric properties.
