Photocatalytic technique using NiFe3O4@MgO nanomaterials efficiently removes methyl blue contaminants from wastewater

Making a photocatalyst that works with visible light is important for cleaning the environment and removing various organic pollutants, such as dyes. This paper involved the production of photocatalytic nanomaterials. Ni was deposited on iron oxide using the chemical deposition method, and then MgO was deposited on the NiFe₃O₄ material using the hydrothermal method to obtain a new compound, namely, NiFe₃O₄@MgO. Several tests were conducted on this compound, including X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and optical property determination. The efficiency of the photocatalyst in removing methylene blue (MB) dye was evaluated at various weights, where a weight of 2 g/L showed the best efficiency in removing the dye (MB). The pH was changed several times, and pH = 7 showed the best efficiency. The concentration of the pollutant was 10 ppm. The synthesized composite, pH value, and photocatalyst amount removed 98 % of the dye (MB). Results showed that the bimetallic composite (NiFe3O4@MgO) was successful in removing the dye (MB) using photocatalysis.

This paper involved the production of photocatalytic nanomaterials. The synthesized composite, pH value, and photocatalyst amount removed 98 % of the dye (MB). Results showed that the bimetallic composite (NiFe3O4@MgO) was successful in removing the dye (MB) using photocatalysis.
