Engineering Geological Modeling for Subsurface Visualization in Obio- Akpor, Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria
This study addresses the challenge of inadequate subsurface understanding in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State by developing 2D and 3D engineering geological models using integrated geotechnical data.Field investigations involved drilling five boreholes across Obio-Akpor, to a depth of 30 meters.Stratigraphic profiles revealed complex layering, including clay, sandy-clay, and coarse sand formations.Using software such as GMS, LogPlot8, and Surfer 20, the study visualizes subsurface conditions with enhanced clarity.Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) and laboratory analyses provided key soil parameters, including moisture content, plasticity indices, and pile bearing capacities. The models offer improved design safety and risk mitigation strategies, contributing to sustainable construction planning in geologically diverse environments.
