Practical urticaria management for dermatologists: consensus from the egyptian society of dermatology and venereology

Urticaria is a common, mast cell–driven disease that is clinically characterized by hives (wheal), angioedema, or both. The prevalence for acute urticaria is ∼20% while chronic type represents 1–2%. Chronic spontaneous or inducible urticaria is a disabling disease that affects the quality of life, and impairs productivity at work and school. This Egyptian consensus for urticaria entitled the definition and classification of urticaria and highlights expert-guided and evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic management for the different subtypes of urticaria. This consensus has been conducted by the Egyptian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ESDV) in 2022–2023. It was developed following the Delphi method. It was acknowledged and accepted by the Egyptian Society of Dermatology and Venereology .
