A Comparative Study of Morphological and Dimensional Characteristics of Dental Arch and Dermatoglyphic Pattern among Two Different Populations

IntroductIonArch form is a very significant aspect of proper occlusion. In order to diagnose and appropriately treat a disease, it is crucial to thoroughly grasp the arch shape.A variety of factors, including the arch's breadth, depth, and diameter, are assessed to properly comprehend its shape. The equilibrium between the underlying basal bone and the intraoral and circumoral muscles determines each person's arch form. 1 The dental arch is crucial because it allows clinicians to assess nearby structures and ultimately create an effective treatment plan for their patients. It has a direct connection to the muscles around the mouth.Growth has an impact on the arches. The arch shapes indicate the teeth's consistency, esthetics, and available space.During the transition from deciduous to adult teeth, notable changes occur in the arch with development, along with a tendency for the arch width in the molar area to intensify. 2n important component of occlusion is arch form.Different ethnic groups have distinct dental arch morphologies.Every ethnic group has a specific arch shape that is highly characteristic. This mostly occurs because the widths between canines and molars vary among ethnic groups, which in turn affects the morphology of the craniofacial region.
