REMEDi4ALL repurposing platform – where are we now and where are we going?
<p xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" class="first" dir="auto" id="d13783854e86">Since its launch three years ago, REMEDi4ALL has emerged as a central platform supporting drug repurposing across Europe and beyond. Designed to launch with four embedded demonstrator projects, the platform has progressively expanded its scope through the REMEDi4ALL Concierge—a contact portal enabling all different stakeholders with repurposing projects to engage with the consortium and receive in-kind advice and support. To date, the Concierge has already engaged with over 200 drug repurposing projects from across Europe and UK and from around the world. From September 2025, REMEDi4ALL opens its doors to supporting additional large repurposing projects through a new entrance mechanism. Beyond individual projects, REMEDi4ALL is strengthening the repurposing ecosystem. Examples of this include annual international drug repurposing conferences (iDR series), the creation of innovative mechanisms to connect researchers with both generic and innovative pharmaceutical companies, the establishment of a diverse Funders Network (composed by more than 35 different organisations and growing), the launch of a marketplace where promising projects are pitched to funders and the idea of coordinated co-funding is explored and stimulated, and the exploration of ways to improve the European policy environment for drug repurposing with relevant stakeholders. Looking ahead, the upcoming REMEDi4ALL Foundation will anchor these activities beyond the Horizon Europe funding period of REMEDi4ALL, supporting core operations and potentially spinning out project-specific entities to realise patient access for new repurposed drugs.
