A INTEGRALIDADE DO SER SURDO NA AMAZÔNIA TOCANTINA
This study brings up for debate the Being integrality of the Deaf Being, seeking to answer: What are the formative elements present in the process of constructing the integrality of the Being of deaf people from the Tocantins Amazon, which make them recognize and affirm themselves as Deaf subjects? The objective is to analyze the formative elements present in the process of constructing the integrality of the Deaf Being. To that, the Freirean category “integration of Being” is used, which breaks with the silencing of the voices and forbidden bodies of the oppressed and presents the recognition of the conscious body and the formative elements of the human being's identity. This is an excerpt from Oliveira's doctoral thesis (2023). It consists of a field research with a qualitative approach, with the theoretical field being the critical decolonial of Paulo Freire, with the collaboration of four deaf subjects. The methodological strategies include interviews focused on life narratives and systematization and analysis through thematic categorization. The research was approved by the ethics committee at Plataforma Brasil. It was concluded that there are other formative elements in the construct of the integrality of being deaf beyond Libras and disability, such as: culture, territory, race, class, gender, religion, activism, work and study. Thus, the coloniality of being deaf is broken, and the integrality of being deaf is constituted as a new perspective on deafness, being a decolonial experience in which the deaf of the Tocantins Amazon narrate their own story of what it means to be deaf, based on their cultural and communicational identity.
