Lima Barreto

This research seeks to highlight some of the relationships that the writer Lima Barreto maintained with law and legal spaces. This reading makes it possible to evaluate a profile of the author that is still little studied and discussed by researchers of his fortune, with a focus on the bureaucrat man figure, the individual with tough skin and commonly associated with someone without will, who suffered the erasure of sensibilities and who was tied to the bonds of state power. The “jurinist” figure is presented as a possibility to discuss the visibilities and divisibilities that the writer outlined about law. In articulating the debate, an analysis of Barreto's articles and chronicles is carried out, as well as other written documentation that helps to make it clear how Lima Barreto constantly crossed the boundaries of law.
