Recent Advancements in the Application of Stem Cells in Skin Grafting and Wound Healing.

"The skin is not just our largest organ; it's our first line of defense against a hostile world." The skin is the body’s largest and most exposed organ, serving as the primary barrier against environmental threats such as pathogens, toxins, and physical injury. It also plays a critical role in regulating body temperature, fluid balance, and sensory perception. However, when skin is damaged—whether through trauma, burns, chronic wounds (such as diabetic ulcers), or genetic conditions—it can significantly compromise the integrity of these vital functions. Depending on the severity and extent of the injury, the natural healing process can be insufficient, leading to complications such as prolonged wound healing, infection, scarring, and loss of function.
