Context-Aware Air-Solution Design for Home Activities: Developing a Framework of Home Activity Components
This study proposes design directions for an Air-Solution that enhances indoor activity experiences in response to the growing diversity of home activities in the post-pandemic era. Unlike existing products that focus solely on air purification, this research highlights the need for personalized air delivery tailored to users’ activity purposes, physical conditions, and spatial configurations. Based on data collected from 18 users—through activity and environment recordings, persona-based selection, and focus group interviews—the study identifies three key components of home activities: (1)activity types, (2)sequences, and (3)environmental contexts. From this analysis, three design directions were derived—centered on physical, physiological, and sequential dimensions—along with proposals for air flow mechanisms and product forms. This study presents a user experience-centered direction for Air-Solution design, demonstrating how precisely tailored airflow and air properties can meaningfully enhance immersion and efficiency across diverse home activities.
