Designing an ESP-Based Syllabus for Fashion Design Students in Pakistan

This research aims to develop an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) - based syllabus for fashion design students in Pakistan. It employs a mixed-methods research design, which included questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Data was collected from fashion students, English language teachers, and industry experts. The results indicate that students require specialised language, enhanced oral presentation skills, and professional writing skills. A task-based ESP syllabus was proposed based on the findings. It focuses on communicative competence through authentic tasks, learner-centred teaching, and the incorporation of real-world fashion discourse. The study contributes to the ESP body of knowledge by designing an ESP-based syllabus for fashion design students.
