Adenocarcinoma arising in a retrorectal teratoma: A rare case report
ABSTRACT Retrorectal teratomas are rare entities, particularly in adult men. We report a unique case involving a 25-year-old man who presented with lower abdominal distension and persistent constipation over 3 months. Per rectal examination revealed an extraluminal mass compressing the rectal mucosa. Ultrasonography (USG) showed a large, well-defined complex cystic lesion in the lower abdomen. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) confirmed a sizable cystic mass with septations and calcifications compressing the colon and bilateral ureters. Surgical exploration and histopathological evaluation led to a rare diagnosis—adenocarcinoma arising within a retrorectal teratoma.
