The associations of hair glucocorticoids with socioeconomic position and type 2 diabetes: Findings from the Maastricht study
Although hair glucocorticoids were associated with T2D, we did not find a social gradient in hair glucocorticoid levels. In our study sample, hair glucocorticoids were not a major factor in understanding socioeconomic health inequalities. Future research should investigate perceived chronic stress and the intersectional identities to explore the mechanisms underlying socioeconomic inequalities in T2D.
