Deciphering the Understanding, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases in Geriatric Patients with the Latest Insights
Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of death globally, especially among older adults whose age-related changes, multiple comorbidities, and atypical presentations complicate care.Emerging computational risk models, molecular biomarkers, nanotechnology-based diagnostics, and tailored exercise interventions are reshaping geriatric CVD management. Objective: This review synthesizes recent progress in four domains: Computational risk stratification, molecular biology-driven biomarkers, nanotechnologyenabled imaging and drug delivery, and exercise physiology applications to propose an integrated, agesensitive framework for improving cardiovascular outcomes in geriatric patients. Methods: A narrative literature search of PubMed, Embase, and major guideline repositories was performed for English-language studies published. We prioritized research reporting clinical efficacy, safety, and real-world implementation considerations in populations aged 65 years and older. Results: Advanced computational algorithms now predict major adverse cardiac events with over 85% accuracy.Novel circulating biomarkers such as microRNA panels are progressing through early clinical trials, offering more precise patient stratification.Nanoparticle-based contrast agents have demonstrated enhanced imaging sensitivity and reduced off-target toxicity, while targeted nanocarriers show promise for sitespecific drug delivery.Structured exercise programs, combining aerobic and resistance training, have been associated with 20-30% reductions in hospital admissions and significant preservation of functional capacity. Conclusion:The convergence of these four approaches presents a multidimensional strategy tailored to the needs of older adults with CVD.To realize their full potential, large-scale real-world validation studies and cost-effectiveness analyses are essential before these innovations can be adopted into routine geriatric cardiology practice.
