Navigating Pregnancy with Stargardt\'s Disease: A Case Report
Stargardt disease is the most prevalent autosomal recessive genetic form of macular dystrophy in both adults and children, which is caused by the mutation of ABCA4 gene. Its onset is commonly noted in the first half of the second decade of life.Stargardt disease is classically characterized by progressive RPE atrophy, the presence of yellow spots around the macula and mid-periphery of the retina with progressive central vision loss. The genes involved can have multiple variances, hence, this genetic disorder might be a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. This is a case report of a 32-year-old term pregnant female affected with Stargardt disease, presented with progressive vision loss.
