Successful Management of a Cesarean Scar Ectopic Pregnancy by Laparoscopic Approach: A Case Report

Cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy (CSEP) represents one of the rarest and most concerning forms of ectopic pregnancy. It occurs when a blastocyst implants on the scar tissue of a previous cesarean section. This phenomenon has become more prevalent in tandem with the global rise in cesarean deliveries.Early diagnosis and prompt management of CSEP are crucial for reducing maternal morbidity and mortality, improving immediate outcomes, and preserving future fertility. The present case describes a 34-year-old woman, gravida 3, para 1, with a history of 1 miscarriage and 2 previous abdominal surgeries, who presented with localized pain and vaginal bleeding, ultimately diagnosed with a 6-week CSEP upon further investigation. After a thorough evaluation, she underwent a successful laparoscopic procedure, involving adhesiolysis and excision of the cesarean scar pregnancy despite the dense adhesions that were encountered, attributable to her prior pelvic surgeries.A histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis.A high degree of clinical suspicion, assessment, and appropriate usage of diagnostic modalities at our disposal are pivotal in overcoming the challenges posed by ambiguous clinical manifestations. This case underscores the importance of clinical vigilance, personalized treatment strategies, and the necessity for specialized expertise in managing such a rare and complex condition.
