Employee retention has emerged as a critical challenge for public sector banks in India, particularly in the face of increasing competition from private sector banks and fintech companies. This research examines the relationship between training and development programs and employee retention rates in government-owned banking institutions. Through a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative analysis and qualitative assessments, this study investigates how structured learning initiatives impact workforce stability, job satisfaction, and career advancement opportunities. The findings reveal that comprehensive training programs significantly enhance retention rates while addressing skill gaps in the rapidly evolving digital banking landscape. This paper provides evidence-based recommendations for optimizing training strategies to improve employee retention in public sector banking organizations.
