Current challenges of the variable development of the methodology of agroecological climate projects related to cattle
The article discusses the key problems of developing industry-specific methodologies for agroecological climate projects in the cattle sector, which are in demand in practice. A comparative analysis of a number of domestic and international approaches to calculating methane emissions has been carried out, and the potential of fundamental technological solutions to reduce them has been assessed. It has been revealed that the existing assessment methods are mainly of a framework nature, which implies the expediency of their subsequent step-by-step detailing, taking into account the regional agroecological features of livestock farming. The greatest potential effectiveness involves the creative use of the best combination of modern achievements in the field of genetic breeding, the use of functional feed additives and targeted management of the rumen microbiome, with a verification assessment of their effectiveness and scalability in real technological, economic, geopolitical and agroecological conditions of the main agricultural regions of Russia. The development of this area of the national methodological base of agricultural climate projects implies the accelerated formation of information and methodological support for the agroecologically sound transfer and adaptation/ localization of the best domestic and international experience to the conditions of specific regions and baselines of climate projects of typical livestock farms.
