The Research of Axial Motor Control

In recent years, with the growing awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection, electric vehicles have emerged as a future trend, gradually replacing traditional internal combustion engine vehicles [1]. As the core component of an electric vehicle's drive system, the motor plays a crucial role in determining the overall performance and stability. This paper proposes multiple control strategies for a novel slotted axial flux motor, aiming to further enhance its efficiency, dynamic response, and operational stability. Traditional axial flux motors have been widely adopted due to their high power density, low weight, and compact structure. However, limitations in materials and design techniques often lead to the generation of eddy currents, which can cause overheating and demagnetization of internal permanent magnets, thereby affecting both performance and lifespan. To address this issue, the slotted axial flux motor structure proposed in this study effectively mitigates such problems. This research delves into the structural design of the slotted axial flux motor, analyzes how it overcomes the eddy current challenge, and evaluates control strategies tailored to its characteristics to achieve more efficient and stable operation.
