Copper Foam-Supported Ce-MOF-808-On-SNW-1 for Efficient Pararosaniline Photodegradation: A Novel MOF-On-COF/Substrate Coating Strategy
In the face of growing environmental pollution, finding efficient and sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment has become a critical global challenge. In this context, photocatalysis has emerged as a promising technology for degrading harmful dyes and pollutants in water. In this work, a Ce-MOF-808-on-SNW-1 heterostructure was synthesized and immobilized onto a copper foam substrate through a spraying strategy. This method enabled uniform deposition of Ce-MOF-808 onto the SNW-1 covalent organic framework (COF), resulting in a significant enhancement of the visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of the toxic triphenylmethane dye pararosaniline (PRA). The Ce-MOF-808-on-SNW-1/Cu composite achieved an impressive degradation efficiency of 95.55% within 90 min (pH = 7), surpassing the performance of its components. The enhanced photocatalytic efficiency is attributed to its extended light absorption range and efficient charge separation. These improvements are a result of the synergistic interactions between the metal-organic framework (MOF) and COF structures, further facilitated by the conductive copper foam. Moreover, the composite exhibited outstanding stability and reusability over five cycles, demonstrating its potential for real-world wastewater treatment applications. This study underscores the significance of MOF-on-COF heterostructures and offers valuable insights into the rational design of advanced photocatalysts, paving the way for integrating hybrid porous materials into broader frameworks of sustainable environmental remediation and solar-driven catalysis.
