ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF COMPOSITE BUILDING STRUCTURES AS PER INDIAN STANDARDS
This research checks the analysis and design of steel -concrete composite building structures, focusing on compliance with Indian standards such as IS 11384: 1985, IS 800: 2007, IS 456: 2000, and IS 1893: 2016.Composite system, which coordinates compressed power of concrete with steel tensile capabilities, provides increased structural efficiency, seismic performance and speed speed compared to traditional RCC framework. The study integrates finished element analysis (FEA) using ETAB and case study, including Delhi Metro and Mumbai Metro Line 3, which highlights the better behavior of Composite elements under stable, dynamic and fire loads. Results 18-22% of material savings, 25-30% rapid construction, and better seismic flexibility-which has reduced inter-story flow in zone V Seesmic simulation.Fire resistance is also greatly increased with the Composite columns that maintains integrity up to 400 C for 60 minutes.Despite challenges such as fragmented codes and limited efficient workforce, research code advocates integration, workforce training and adoption of prefabricated technologies. The study concludes that Composite construction provides a permanent, cost-affected and performing option for India's growing infrastructure needs, and urges amendment of IS 11384 to align with modern engineering practices and hybrid material innovations.
