MANAGEMENT OF CONTINUING EDUCATION IN THE MILITARY POLICE OF ALAGOAS-BRAZIL: CURRENT ANALYSIS OF THE EDUCATION FRAMEWORK AND NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT
This study addresses the management of continuing education in the Military Police of Alagoas (PMAL). It analyzes the current teaching framework and its needs for improvement. It seeks to answer the central question: Are the dynamics of continuing education in the PMAL adequate for the professional qualification needs of military police officers in light of legislative changes and new challenges to public safety? The hypothesis is that the current continuing education management model within the force does not fully meet the training needs of military police officers, requiring specific adjustments and the implementation of a specific continuing education system. The general objective is to analyze the continuing education management policy within the force, while the specific objectives were to: examine legislation and regulations related to continuing education; discuss initial and continuing professional education, contextualizing it within the public safety context, especially within the institution; and demonstrate the current teaching framework, highlighting the various forms of training. The methodology adopted was qualitative and exploratory, utilizing bibliographic and documentary research. The results indicate that the management policy for continuing education for military police officers, although it exists tacitly, lacks adequate formalization with the promulgation of an institutional guideline to guide managers in conducting the qualification of the institution's members, since, as it currently stands, despite the efforts of managers, it is insufficient to meet the growing demands for professional qualification of the corporation.
