Intussusception in a Child with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Rare Presentation
Abstract Intussusception is the telescoping of one bowel segment into an adjacent one. The most common age affected is 5 months to 3 years, and 90% of cases are idiopathic. Around 2%–8% of cases are associated with a lead point, which usually occurs in older children. Intussusception associated with leukemia is rare and very few (~10) cases are reported to date, among which most are reported after initiation of chemotherapy. We are presenting a 9-year-old child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia associated with intussusception at initial diagnosis.
