Exploratory Case Study on the Impact of Smart Healthcare-Assisted EECP Therapy on Vascular Aging and Cardiac Force Index in Ischemic Stroke
Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) is a non-invasive therapy increasingly applied in managing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions. This case study investigates its effects on arterial stiffness and cardiac function in an ischemic stroke patient. The subject received 35 one-hour EECP sessions, with real-time hemodynamic monitoring. Key indicators-baPWV, vascular age, blood pressure, MAP, Pulse Pressure (PP), and Cardiac Force Index (CFI, derived from CMPB and standardized CMPB3)-were evaluated. Posttreatment results showed <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$>30$</tex> percent reduction in baPWV, vascular age dropping from <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$>90$</tex> to 61, increased CMPB/CMPB3, and improved six-minute walk distance (330 m to 375 m). MAP and PP also decreased significantly. These outcomes suggest EECP, with smart monitoring, may enhance vascular elasticity and cardiac endurance in stroke patients.
