Establishment and Validation of a Compost Temperature Model under Conditions of Moisture Content and Material Ratios

In composting research, a simulation model applicable to the temperature change of tobacco-stem and pig-manure composting was innovatively established. Firstly, this study obtained the compost temperature change curve by real-time temperature monitoring, and constructed a compost heat balance model considering the characteristics of self-made compost reactors and different moisture contents and material ratios. In this process, the organic matter degradation coefficient was obtained by calculating the moisture content influence coefficient and free-air space, and the parameters of the heat balance model were experimentally determined to calculate the heat of the compost reaction system and then the heat of organic matter degradation reaction. Then, the Simulink tool was used to establish a temperature - change simulation model. By comparing experimental data and conducting significance comparison, it was found that there was no significant difference between the simulation curve and the experimental curve, which fully verified the accuracy of this simulation model. This innovative simulation model can accurately give the general change rule of compost temperature and make predictions under various conditions and at any time, providing an important reference for the theoretical research on compost heating.
