Text Against the Text: A Deconstructionist Study of ‘Siddhartha’

In this study, the book "Siddhartha" is examined, and the text is contrasted with itself using a deconstructionist approach. A text's inherent complexity and inconsistencies are revealed by deconstructionism, a critical method that typically emphasises how language and meaning are arbitrary inventions. The textual conflicts in "Siddhartha" are examined and analysed in this study through close reading. The protagonist's pursuit of enlightenment and rejection of the conventional spiritual path are examples of these paradoxes. Another is the conflict between unity and general individualism. Three levels of analysis are used in the deconstructionist method: linguistic, verbal, and textual. Inconsistencies and ambiguities that cast doubt on the author's main argument will be sought during the textual analysis. In conducting a textual analysis, it is necessary to look for inconsistencies and ambiguities that cast doubt on the narrative's central thesis. The verbal and linguistic analyses put a lot of attention on how language is used to elicit different interpretations and meanings, revealing how it influences how we perceive the world (Barry, 2002).
