Evaluating the Performance for AI and Metaverse Startups in Korea: A Learning-Oriented Approach
This study aims to explore the relationship between entrepreneurship and startup performance based on emerging technologies, such as AI and the metaverse. The focus of the study is to investigate how entrepreneurship, mediated by learning orientation, affects the performance of AI and metaverse-based startups. To achieve this, we employed an approach that utilized the GPT-4 model with a self-consistent prompting technique to generate survey questions. This methodology has increased the efficiency and reliability of survey writing and insights. However, we discuss how sampling bias and performance measurement based on subjective responses can limit the generalizability of research. To test our hypotheses, we analyzed data from a sample of 262 people working in AI and metaverse-based startups in Korea. The findings of the study are as follows: First, entrepreneurship had a positive impact on learning orientation, implying that entrepreneurship is important for fostering a learning-oriented culture within organizations in rapidly changing technology-based business environments; Second, learning orientation had a positive impact on startup performance, suggesting that organizations that can leverage a learning culture may have a strategic advantage in terms of increasing their ability to adapt appropriately to dynamic market conditions.Third, learning orientation was identified as a mediator in the relationship, especially between Innovativeness and startup performance, LC(B=.105*),SV(B=.095*),OP(B=.067*), which confirms that entrepreneurship can not only directly improve startup performance, but also indirectly enhance performance by fostering a learning-oriented culture.
