Analyzing Functional Requirements for Modular Sterilizer Box Product Design Using the KANO Model

Given increasingly stringent environmental health standards and a surge in disinfection demand in pathogen-dense environments, optimizing disinfection equipment functionality and enhancing user satisfaction have become pivotal for boosting market competitiveness and ensuring public health security.Using survey data from 309 enterprise and institutional staff over a one-year period, this study systematically analyzed the hierarchical characteristics and functional prioritization of user requirements for disinfection equipment by combining the KaNo model with the Better-Worse coefficient analysis method. The research found that user requirements exhibit significant hierarchical attributes.Among these, "inactivating various pathogens with broad-spectrum coverage", "fault selfdetection and overload protection", and "environmental adaptability" are classified as must-have attributes. These attributes constitute Non-negotiable functional benchmarks for equipment reliability.Expected attributes such as "active human avoidance design", "disinfectant residue control", and "disinfection data traceability system" directly impact user satisfaction.Based on the Better-Worse coefficient, the following areas were identified as priority areas for improvement to enhance user satisfaction: "visualization of the disinfection process", "multi-device data synchronization", "mobility and rapid deployment", and "automated operation procedures".This study proposes a three-pronged design methodology of "Requirement Hierarchy -Data-Driven -Dynamic Adaptation."It precisely anchors core functions through the KaNo-BW (Better-Worse Coefficient) quantitative model, constructs modular recommendation algorithms to address scenario complexity, and specifically proposes design content for mobile disinfection equipment. The research outcomes provide a quantifiable path for enhancing satisfaction and a risk avoidance framework for the functional optimization of disinfection equipment, while also furnishing theoretical support and practical references for the research, development, and market adaptation of disinfection equipment in the public health domain. This supports the industry's sustainable development driven by the evolution of health and safety demands and techNological inNovation.
