ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE CONFLICT BETWEEN UKRAINE AND THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The modern operational-strategic environment in which military conflicts are increasingly fought by conventional means is inevitably shaped by the use of artificial intelligence. Global conflicts that began at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century are inevitably changing the character of modern war. The Cold War conventional and nuclear threat to world peace that ended in the early 1990s did not wait long to acquire a new form of manifestation of a global threat. These new threats are called Cold War 2.0 by a large number of world thinkers. The beginning of the 21st century and the consolidation of new sources of power from states such as the People’s Republic of China, India, the Republic of Iran and many other countries seeking their place and role in the modern multipolar world have contributed to the global distribution of power being far more complex than the bipolar world that was made up of the USA and the former USSR, or today’s Russian Federation. The unconventional use of technology, primarily in the information space, has contributed to the fact that we are now living in an era of hybrid war. The main global actors in this phase of hybrid war do not clash directly, but rather measure their strength through proxy actors, one of such actors being Ukraine. It is precisely on the territories of Ukraine that one of the largest hotbeds of modern conflicts on the planet is located. In addition to the interests of the great powers to demonstrate their global primacy and strength, they do not choose the means and concepts of war operations in order to achieve their goal. In such conflicts, the most modern technologies such as artificial intelligence also play a major role. In addition to all the other technologies represented today, it provides the opportunity to wage a proxy war precisely at a level that benefits the great powers, while at the same time they can directly exert their influence through their indirect action through the armed forces of the practical actors.
