Evaluating the Circularity of Computer-Aided Design Models: A Systematic Literature Review
The transition towards a sustainable, ecofriendly economy emphasizes minimizing waste and optimizing resource use through a circular economy. As part of Design for Sustainability, Design for Circular Economy (DfCE) focuses on extending product lifespans and enabling material recycling. CAD models are essential for assessing these strategies. Current methodologies often rely on recycled material use and recycling rates, but gaps remain in evaluating circular designs from CAD data. This study addresses this gap by highlighting the existing research gaps in the assessment through a systematic literature review and proposing a combined assessment framework for DfCE incorporating Ecofriendly Design.
