Georeferenced Correction Factors to the Ineichen Clearsky Model for the Alpine regions in Austria/Europe

The location and seeheight dependent Ineichen Clearsky Model approximates the expected solar horizontal irradiation in an atmosphere without additional clouds. In this article, it is tested against historic weather data of 280 metereologic stations within Austria/Europe. Thereby, location and seeheight-depending correction factors are derived, that are outputted in a georeferenced pixelmap. At elevations of 3000m, more than 10% percent discrepancy were observed between experienced and simulated clearsky-irradiation.

Abstract

The location and seeheight dependent Ineichen Clearsky Model approximates the expected solar horizontal irradiation in an atmosphere without additional clouds. In this article, it is tested against historic weather data of 280 metereologic stations within Austria/Europe. Thereby, location and seeheight-depending correction factors are derived, that are outputted in a georeferenced pixelmap. At elevations of 3000m, more than 10% percent discrepancy were observed between experienced and simulated clearsky-irradiation.
