A Comparative Analysis of Management Practices and Digitalization among Selected Cooperatives in Lipa City, Batangas

Cooperatives play a vital role in the Philippine economy; with the growing number of cooperatives, assessing the organization’s performance and operation plays a crucial role. The study aims to provide a comparative analysis of the management practices (planning, coordinating, commanding, and controlling) and digitalization among cooperatives in Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines. This shed light on identifying the gap in the practices and the level of digitalization among cooperatives as a basis for providing development training in these areas. The study was conducted among 78 cooperatives composed of a Board of Directors, managers, officers, and committee members who participate in the cooperative’s management and operation—a validity and reliability test to measure consistency. Chi-square and ANOVA were used to compare the two factors, while Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used. The study found goodness of fit among variables. The study found differences in planning and commanding practices regarding cooperative asset size. In contrast, digital transformation among cooperatives differs in terms of length of operation and number of members. This study suggests that training primarily focusing on digital technologies should be considered among cooperatives and local government units to address the gap in operation and digitalization.
