Authentication Schemes in Wireless Sensor Networks
Authentication is a component that has always needed to be included in any system that deals with people gaining allowed access to sensitive data. Despite this, developing an authentication system that is secure against all known vulnerabilities is a challenging task. In addition to the authentication of human users, authentication may also be used to authenticate other entities. Authentication may take many forms; some examples include secure data transfer authentication, document authentication, device authentication, and many more. Within the scope of this study, we investigate several authentication procedures for wireless sensor networks. We make available a foolproof authentication procedure for the aggregation of WSN data. After determining which nodes are responsible for detection, the aggregator selects a group of nodes at random and broadcasts a unique value containing the authentication keys to all of the nodes in the selected group. This completes the first round of data gathering. Any node in the set that desires to transmit data communicates with the other nodes in the set using their individual authentication keys and sends encrypted data chunks. After each receiving node has completed the task of decrypting and totaling the slices, the data that has been encrypted is then transferred to the aggregator.
