Epitaxial Lift-off Technique Using Cu Superstrates for Flexible CdTe/MgCdTe Double-Heterostructure Thin-Film Solar Cells
Monocrystalline CdTe/MgCdTe double-heterostructure (DH) thin films and solar cell devices have been successfully transferred to flexible Cu superstrates using an epitaxial lift-off (ELO) technique. The post-ELO DHs show smooth surface morphology with few cracks or pinholes and exhibit unchanged photoluminescence (PL) efficiency compared to the as-grown sample. The best solar cell exhibits an open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.86 V, a short circuit current density (JSC) of 20.0 mA/cm2 and an efficiency of 9.2% without anti-reflection coating.
