Enhancing Performance of Inorganic CsPbBr3 Solar Cells with ZnO Additive via One-Step Spin Coating

Inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites (CsPbX<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>, X = Cl, Br, or I) have emerged as promising materials for optoelectronics, with CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> standing out for its superior environmental stability. However, challenges like CsBr's poor solubility often lead to defects in CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> films, limiting their performance. This work introduces a one-step spin coating method for additive engineering with zinc oxide (ZnO) assistance to enhance the morphology, phase purity, and crystallinity of CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> films. This method improves light absorption, reduces defects, and increases the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> solar cells from 3.67% to 6.29%. This gives a comprehensive overview of the enhanced performance obtained by ZnO additive engineering.

Abstract

Inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites (CsPbX<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>, X = Cl, Br, or I) have emerged as promising materials for optoelectronics, with CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> standing out for its superior environmental stability. However, challenges like CsBr's poor solubility often lead to defects in CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> films, limiting their performance. This work introduces a one-step spin coating method for additive engineering with zinc oxide (ZnO) assistance to enhance the morphology, phase purity, and crystallinity of CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> films. This method improves light absorption, reduces defects, and increases the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of CsPbBr<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> solar cells from 3.67% to 6.29%. This gives a comprehensive overview of the enhanced performance obtained by ZnO additive engineering.
