A Comparative Analysis of Circuit Simulation Software in the Context of Logic Design Education
The rapid evolution of digital design education has been accompanied by the development of several circuit simulation tools that provide interactive platforms for students to learn and experiment. This paper presents a comparative analysis of seven popular software tools—Logisim, Logisim Evolution, CircuitVerse, Logicly, Hneemann Digital, Electronics Workbench, and Multisim—focusing on their applicability to teaching, ability to export designs to Hardware Description Languages (HDLs), and support for migrating designs on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The analysis reveals varying strengths across usability, advanced features, and cost, offering educators guidance for selecting the most suitable tool for their needs.
