Enhancing Attractiveness and Transdisciplinary Innovation in Electrical Engineering Research Master’s Curricula
The development of competitive research Master’s programs is crucial for universities seeking to attract top talent and equip students with specialized expertise. The "Energy Conversion and Motion Control" Master’s program, offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Iasi, integrates cutting-edge research in intelligent power conversion, hybrid electric vehicle control, and mobile robotics. A distinctive aspect of the program is its interdisciplinary approach, incorporating neuroprostheses control and brain-computer interfaces with applications in rehabilitation. To enhance students’ learning experience, courses such as "Biomechanics Motion Control" have been adapted to include Functional Electrical Stimulation principles, rehabilitation applications, and novel Brain-Computer Interface-based techniques. Additionally, newly designed laboratory test benches support hands-on experimentation. Over the past five years, enrollment has increased by more than 10%, attracting students from diverse fields, including Medical Bioengineering. This paper will present key program innovations, student feedback, and insights into the impact of these advancements on research and professional development.
