The role of internships as a motor for sustainable and binding learning between university, government and community: A project of DivAirCity and the Electricity Technology academic programme at the Distric University (Bogotá D.C.)
Sustainable development is a global issue that concerns us all, in which universities are called upon to lead actions in favour of its implementation and planning, which is why, through the various types of degree projects, they are encouraged to strengthen, consolidate and implement all the professional competences acquired by their students in the field of sustainability. Of this range of alternatives for the application of sustainable professional work, the ‘internship’ modality is highlighted for its theoretical-practical emphasis, its social projection and its binding character. This article highlights the internship carried out by the students of Electricity Technology of the District University Francisco Jose de Caldas, within the framework of the European DivAirCity programme, whose descriptive work with a propositional approach is presented as a nature-based solution (NBS), showing the importance of dynamizing. The study is presented as a NBS, showing the importance of dynamizing, on the one hand, interinstitutional university-government work and, on the other, community organizations, to respond at a general level to the problem of climate change and, in particular, to the needs of a community or social organization such as the community action board of the El Mirador neighborhood in the district of Ciudad Bolivar in Bogota, Colombia. The most representative findings refer to the proposal and application of the sustainable project called ‘A light for the viewpoint’ presented to the District Institute of Participation and Community Action for the initial implementation of a photovoltaic solar system in the community hall of this community, with a view to consolidating an energy community as a socially based NBS. It also proposes a model structured on the pillars of sustainability, knowledge transfer and resources and capacities, which articulates the triad of university, government and community in a permanent process, to enrich the curricular purposes and lead to cross-cutting improvement strategies for the different stakeholders.
