Study on Improvement of Power Generation for a Window Using Solar Radiation Reflected from the Low-E Coating of a Semi-transparent Photovoltaic Module Equally Arranged Linear Bifacial Solar Cells

In Japan, ZEB is currently being promoted with the aim of reducing environmental impact, and the role of photovoltaic power generation as an energy-creating technology is becoming important. However, it is a fact that there are many installation cases of solar cell modules that are not integrated with the design and function of buildings. In particular, in the case of a semi-transparent photovoltaic module installed in a window, there are many cases in which an electrode wiring is arranged in a lighting part and the design is deteriorated, and the functions of view, lighting, heat shielding, and heat insulation are also required. The photovoltaic module which we developed (hereinafter STPV: Semi-transparent photovoltaic module) is a module with a double-glazed structure, in which a module with linearly processed bifacial power generation is arranged in a stripe pattern on the outdoor side and low-E glass on the indoor side.Low-E glass passes visible light indoors and reflects invisible near-infrared rays to the outside, enabling views (daylight) and heat shielding from solar radiation. Therefore, in STPV, the near-infrared rays reflected by the low-E glass are incident on the back surface of a solar cell capable of generating power on both sides, so that the amount of power generation can be expected to increase. It also offers views, daylight, heat shielding, and heat insulation. In this study, annual outdoor verification and simulation were conducted. As a result of annual outdoor verification, approximately 9% increase of power generation by low-E glass were confirmed. Also, the simulation shows that there is a power generation advantage against the common model using the square cells.
