Integration of Agrivoltaic Systems for Sustainable Resource Management in Semi-Arid Regions

This research aims to implement a sustainable automated irrigation system that optimizes water use for greenhouses in semi-arid regions. The prototype system employs an agrivoltaic approach that harnesses solar energy through bifacial modules, integrated with agricultural production under controlled conditions. The photogenerated energy powers a 25W pump with a flow rate of 1200 L/h and a monitored system that tracks temperature and humidity, both in the environment and on the crops, ensuring optimal growing conditions by automating the irrigation process. The system will enhance agricultural yields, minimize water wastage, and promote sustainability in greenhouse production. This approach not only addresses the water scarcity challenges typical of semi-arid regions but also supports the transition to cleaner energy sources, contributing to more resilient and sustainable agricultural practices. Ultimately, the integration of renewable energy and agricultural technologies in this system can enhance crop production efficiency with reduced environmental impact, benefiting both local farmers and the broader agricultural sector.
