Research on Accurate Vehicle Identification under Free Flow and Fast Traffic Conditions

Accurate vehicle identification under free-flow and fast traffic conditions is an essential task in modern Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This task is used to manage the traffic and improve safety. The vehicle identification technologies face several challenges due to environmental conditions such as lighting, weather, and complex traffic conditions. This article presents a detailed review on vehicle identification and associated technologies. This work amalgamates the emerging trends in vehicle identification and recognition. This work explores the evolutions of vehicle detection systems by elaborating on the computer vision methods and deep learning algorithms. This work also illustrates the benefits of modern approaches such as attention models, feature extraction methods, and parallel architectures in increasing the accuracy and speed. Furthermore, we discuss the significance of deep learning and image processing techniques in improving robustness under challenging conditions. This work also presented the methods for the design and implementation of vehicle identification in free-flow and traffic conditions. This research work provides a detailed overview of the current state of research and identifies future directions for improving vehicle identification systems in free-flow and fast traffic conditions.
